Recommended Folder Structure
For best results, organize your music by Artist and Album. Record Rack automatically detects album artwork, artist photos, and videos.
Album Artwork
Place an image file named cover.jpg (or any image file) in the album folder. Supported formats: JPG, JPEG, PNG.
If no external cover is found, embedded artwork in audio files will be used.
Artist Photos
Place an image file (e.g., artist.jpg) directly in the artist folder. It will be displayed on the Artist page with a pull-down zoom effect.
Videos
Music videos placed in album folders are automatically detected. Supported formats: M4V, MP4, MOV.
Liner Notes
Create a Pictures folder inside the album folder and add your liner note images. Images are sorted by the leading number in the filename (e.g., 1.jpg, 2.jpg, 10.jpg). Supported formats: JPG, JPEG, PNG, HEIC, WebP.
Lyrics
Create a .rr.json file in the album folder to add lyrics. The file can include lyrics for each track and album-wide notes. Use the Lyrics Generator web app to easily create this file.

FAQ
My music doesn't appear in the app
Make sure your files are in iCloud Drive/Record Rack/Music/. Files may take a few moments to sync from iCloud. Pull down to refresh the library.
Album artwork is not showing
Check that your artwork file is named cover.jpg (recommended) or any image file in the album folder. Supported formats are JPG, JPEG, and PNG. Embedded artwork in audio files is also supported.
Tracks are in the wrong order
Record Rack sorts by disc number, then track number from audio metadata. Make sure your files have proper metadata tags. You can also use the filename format 01 - Track Title.m4a as fallback.
iCloud sync is slow
Large music libraries may take time to sync. Ensure you have a stable internet connection. Files are downloaded on-demand when you try to play them.
What's the difference between Playlists and Album Racks?
Playlists contain individual tracks. Album Racks contain whole albums. Use Racks for album-based organization like "Jazz Collection" or "Summer Vibes".
Can I use music from Apple Music or Spotify?
No. Record Rack is designed for music files you own (ripped CDs, purchased downloads, etc.). Streaming service files are DRM-protected and cannot be used.
